I wanted to pass along news about the some of the immediate effects of the volcanic erupution on our industry. No product has been shipped from holland since the ash problem began. Cargo flights are still grounded and our exporters do not expect cargo flights to begin any earlier then Monday or Tuesday, or even longer.
The ash problem has the following effects on us:
1. Any dutch product presently available in the US, arrived before the crisis began. BEWARE OF AVAILABLE DUTCH PRODUCT.
2. This will create a backlog of dutch product on the auction, which will affect quality.
3. Russia depends heavily on dutch flowers, and unless they are being trucked, they may put a strain on ecuadorian and colombian product which may reach foward into mother’s day.
4. Our holiday prebooks are secure, so I do recommend getting your prebooks in on time to ensure you get exactly what you want, at the price you want.
